This movie seems similar to screen movies, just I feel It will be done wrong, like I'm not sure whoever made the movie even know how computers work, I don't even think they know how humans work!!
The idea of trying a movie happening on screen, but always trying to make it traditional movie really make the movie lose the style, the computer screen is basically the set you are shooting the movie in, the window of the computer is like the window in the set, the movie really need to focus on the style of the computer screen, and the idea of him sharing the screen with his friend swiping for a date match, also shows how desperate they want to make the movie a live action movie but resisting it by trying to make it a different genre.
The way how slowly the actors talk, and how the camera slowly zoom in and zoom out on the screen, like, can you make it more boring, please!!
I love movies from this genre like screen movies, my favorite is Unfriended: Dark Web and Searching, also movies with one set like Devil, The Man from Earth and Buried, when they are done right they are amazing, when done wrong they are boring and unwatchable. It really need a great acting, a great directing, and a great writing in order to work, just because the movie looks simple, doesn't mean it is!
BTW, no one wants to see people having a video chat together, the idea itself isn't intersting, same as people sitting and talking, the idea of such genre is to make boring things seems so intersting by mixing it with horror, thriller, and action like in Unfriended: Dark Web and Searching, or with fantasy like The Man from Earth. The idea of such movies is making something boring like sitting on a couch or having a video chat, or being trapped in elevator seems intersting not boring, which something isn't easy to do, it's way easier to make a traditional movie.
At first I thought they can't make it more boring, but they outdone themselves and actually manged to make it more boring, now we have a character that doesn't talk and just look at the camera and send messages.
Now the horror begins, about half dozen of people saw him jerking off, plus the twenty guys who watched this movie, if you are one of them, I know what you are going through, stay strong, you are not alone!!
So, around 36 minute mark the wife then had an emotional conversation with him, she goes like "why did you do this?" and the hero replied "I just wanted to be a man", and she was like "masturbation doesn't make you a man, your salary does.", very romantic scene, I was crying watching it, it was more romantic than The Titanic!!!
Then she goes "Do you even find me attractive at all anymore?" and he was like "Only when you are wearing full black latex bodysuit while holding a whip"
God damn, the movie feel as if it's written by AI and performed by robots, malfunctioned robots.
So, around 40 minute mark Dr Orion Zephyr called the hero about the masturbation situation and said "were you really caught masturbating alone" the hero said "Yes", and then the doctor replied "As your doctor, I really advise you against that, I too masturbate alone, maybe we can help each others, I'm just here to help.", the hero panicked and then blocked him.
Around one hour mark, the hero went to sleep naked, in the morning his wife went to wake him up, she didn't know that he was having a wet dream, so when once she entered the room he came onto her face, the movie make a jump scare sound, It was terrifying!!
Then the doctor called the hero, and wanted to know if too much masturbating can give him superpowers, so he asked the hero to look through the wall, surprisingly, the hero manged to look through the wall.
The villainess meets the hero's friend Eddie, and she's horny, not just one but have two horns.
The villainess then teared the outer skin of Eddie, and she found out he's not really Eddie, but a bloody dick, what a plot twist!!
The movie is about Chris and the pursue of happiness, and how hard he tried to make the American dream true, to be finally able to masturbate in front of camera and Seeking acceptance from his mother and wife to be a professional wanker.
Here's what I think about this movie, If you love a bad story, bad writing, bad directing, boring movies with insufferable dialog, and love to see men masturbating, this movie is for you, but if you love to have a good time watching a movie, as some people do, I advise you to stay away, the movie is chaotic, confused, unwatchable mess. There are some moments here and there of the villainess, but the movie is 100 minutes long, also for me I was watching it expecting something unique like Searching or something, but it turned out to be something similar to AI generated video. Rachel Cook as Adra AKA Succubus is amazing, but except her so few scenes, every other character are extremely annoying.
