Actress Name : Michelle van Rensburg
Character Name : M´ling
Year : 1998

In tv show The Adventures of Sinbad season 2 episode titled The Book of Before aired 1998. Actress Michelle van Rensburg plays as villainess M´ling.
One of my childhood shows and one of the first shows I ever scene in my life, people today don't understand how a global phenomena Sinbad, Hercules, Xena, Relic Hunter were, just to know, these shows used to have exact time to watch them, there's no internet, no subscription, basically either you watch them on-time, or miss them, so the idea that during the show was aired everyone was tuned in, advertisers competing on who get the slot when everyone is gathered to watch the show.. The CGI also weren't very common especially in TV shows, even so they look outdated today, back then they were insanely impressive, anyway let's start the episode and see if how good it is today, since the first time I saw it, I was basically a child.

The episode starts with some guy sitting in the room, then an entity contact him, warning him about the dark forces going after him, and it's really good, it shows despite the limitation shows back then had when it comes to technology, instead of showing the entity, they coordinate the music, green lighting, and even wind and its effect on the candles to create the atmosphere for it even if you don't see the actual entity, but you can still feel its strong presence, if this was made to day, they wouldn't do any of this, and just show some CGI green thing that would probably be worse as it will ruin the immersion and would look fake and unbelievable despite the advanced technology we can easily access today.

So, the man took his daughter and his followers and ran before the powers of darkness come to take a map he got.
Thankfully the villains manged to corner him and stop him before trying to escape injustice, yet unfortunately Sinbad and his crew stepped in to save them both and stop the bad guys. I know, heroes kind of annoying, wouldn't be great if the bad guys slaughtered them all and get the map anyway, and then everyone in town laugh at how stupid Sinbad was to face the dark forces and how it ended up with the death of his all team for nothing, that would be my alternative ending LOL.
The fighting in this show looks so dumb, but in a good way, like it fit the overall theme, the thing about these shows, they were more about decoration, cloths, makeup etc.. And all these element create the immersion in the story, and the fight scenes, even if it looks dumb, but fit the overall theme of the show.
Anyway, our villains manged anyway to get the map and escape with it.
God, I love the theme music of this show.
We first see our beloved villainess around 7 minutes mark..
As the heroes in their way to get the map back, M´ling was waiting for them, so she caste a spell to create a tree demon in order to stop them from going further.. The demon actually looks good, even by today's standards.
Yet the heroes found the weak point of the tree demon, the poor thing can't see the heroes and can only hear them, and these bastards used that against it. Even tho our vegetarian friend died in battle fighting the good guys, after they traitorously tricked him even tho he was doing a great job to kill them, the dark forces will keep fighting, and will always remember our friend tree guy and what he did for evil.

We then get a group of villains with tight green outfit they use as camouflage, and fight the heroes in the forest, it was funny TBH, kudos to the stuntmen tho, they made a great efforts to make the scene fun, they are the magic in this scene despite the lack of the ability to create it using CGI..

Around 19 minutes, we see our villainess with her father with the help of the map finally find the castle where the book they are going after is.
After that the villains made an ambush on the heroes, they waited for them with their bows on top of the mountain, and Abodi, the original book owner was hit, and Sinbad gave him a solid advice, he told him to stay down, which is a very nice and really good advice, as it would be easier for the villains to aim at him while he's not moving and also aim down without putting too much efforts, you never see heroes showing such kindness to people working as villains these days, respect, Sinbad.
Around 25 minutes, the guards get Abodi to our villainess feet, she want him to open the book as it's protected by some kind of magic spell that keep them from opening it, I would open the book for her in a second who would think about humanity while you have such insanely gorgeous villainess in front of you!
I totally forgot about that, apparently Bryn played by actress Mariah Shirley, have a super power that make her see whatever her eagle sees, more like Bran Stark in Game of Thrones, I can't help but notice that not just both of them have similar superpowers, but also similar names!
The final confrontation starts around 35 minutes..
This episode is way better than I expected, it's not good like a whole movie, but it's a solid episode, by the end, I wish if it didn't end, the episode probably med, but still, there are so much unwatchable movies and TV shows made today that it now must feel as masterpiece in comparison LOL
