Mariana Di Girólamo, Millaray Lobos and Geraldine Neary as evil babes Cecilia AKA Tamara, Rosa, and Jenny in Vencer o Morir
Movie Name : Vencer o Morir
In tv show Vencer o Morir season 1 episode titled El país es un volcán a punto de estallar aired 2024. Actresses Mariana Di Girólamo, Millaray Lobos and Geraldine Neary play as female villains Cecilia AKA Tamara Rosa, and Jenny. I wasn't sure if Tamara should be added as a villainess since her fight was against Pinochet, plus how much selflessness she showed, but I think the show qualify as a villain show, and her character reminds me of Tokyo from La casa de papel, so I'm gonna add her anyways. Basically Tamara joins the communist party to overthrow Pinochet government of Chile, the first four episodes kind of introduction of her, and her comrades, the most significant scene is the one when they took over the radio station, the show kind of remind me of Narcos, yet it focus on the communists in the show instead of drug lords, who I was kind of interest of them the most in the show, so I kind of see this show as expansion of their story even if it's in another country entirely. Anyway in the previous episodes, she helped one of her comrades escape the country to Argentina, then the government found out about her, knew how she looked like, now she's being hunted down, and had to leave her family and her job to join the militia, she took the nickname Tamara after Tamara Bunke, the famous feminist revolutionary and freedom fighter, I wish they make a show about Tamara Bunke TBH, yeah, it will be tragic, but if done right, it would be awesome. TBH, I wish the show was a little more tense, like close encounters, they barely make it and such, but things seems too easy and too smooth. So, in episode 4, they got las armas via ocean to transport it to Santiago in order to overthrow the government. Now to episode 5, I think the show romanticize communists too much, I get communists especially during such period were probably highly educated and kind of perfectionists in comparison to other people, but still the show make things look too perfect, it's not like they are being hunted or on the run, everything is too smooth for them, I think La casa de papel is also have leftist leaning and anti-capitalist message, yet things were never easy for them, even El Profesor had to disguise as a homeless man to run away from the police. Ok, the tension leveled up this episode which is good after the cop with our villainess Jenny followed the communists to the peach. I'm not sure if Jenny is my favorite character in this show, the heroine is very intersting and she qualify to be a villainess in certain aspects, like the world is built against her, also it can be consider as expansion of villainess character as communists were portrayed as villains in 90s movies, so her character can be consider an expansion of a villainess charcter, so if you don't think she qualify as a villainess, you still have Jenny. Towards the end of the episode detective Rosa infiltrate the communist militia. Episode 5 is my favorite till now. Now to episode 6, in this episode they prepare for attacking Pinochet, The moment when Lilian played by Paulina Urrutia cried is so good, really good scene and performance, You can feel how she felt like losing her daughter, I love this scene. Now, to episode 7, the communist party ordered Rodrigo to leave the country, stop the armed struggle and Rodrigo got mad, I really like that as the group follows Guevarism, so it makes so much sense that he get mad, it's similar on how Che himself was kind of rebellious even towards the soviets. Rodrigo could die since it's very similar to what happened with Che. Here's the thing, some of the people criticize Hollywood saying "Hollywood is leftist", no it's not, Hollywood wouldn't dare make shows about leftist movements in US like Black Panther Party, Hollywood is authoritarian liberal entity, Americans calls it leftist, because they don't have an actual left in USA, it's liberal right wingers and conservative right wingers, leftists can make good movies and shows just fine, authoritarian liberals can't, modern Hollywood liberal authoritarianism is similar to conservative authoritarianism than to leftist entertainment, what is happening now is very similar to Hollywood blacklist and McCarthyism, funny enough Walt Disney was supporter to such authoritarian persecution the same way his company now supports similar persecution and supervision on thoughts and restrictions on artistic freedom. Anyway, this is one of the rare occasions that I root for the main character, I see Tamara as a villainess TBH, in this episode many of her comrades were shot after they were hunted down by the government, and Rosa got really close to her, episode 7 is also the best one till now, I like how the show get better and better every episode. Rest in power, Comandante Tamara, Vencer o Morir 💔💔💔. Favorite Quotes "Tamara: We can't say who we are,
