Movie Name : The Rookie
Actress Name : Sonia Braga
Character Name : Liesl
Year : 1990

In 1990 movie The Rookie. Actress Sonia Braga plays as villainess Liesl. An iconic 90s action movie and iconic villainess played by the amazing Sonia Braga.

I don't get why this movie look and sound so good, like even the fonts used look so cool, this is a movie from the 1990s, how come it looks way better than most movies made today!!

We see the gorgeous Liesl for the first time when she blocked the cop Nick Pulovski while he was following his target..

Nick Pulovski partner was shot dead, and Nick Pulovski went in a car chase after the one who shot him, I know you would never a car chase like that in any modern movie.

I absolutely can't get it, how such beautiful peace of art, a movie, an actual movie evolve to the trash we see today, like this movie looks incredibly good, the camera movement, the sound, everything. Like even the cigar Nick Pulovski is smoking would have to be censored in a modern western movie, it's insane.

We see our villainess around 20 minutes, god, she's so beautiful, a goddess.

Nick Pulovski a character which is obviously good, if made today Hollywood would probably say he's a villain, they go like "You want a villain? Here's your villain!!" basically a villain for them a hero who is willing to cross the line to achieve his noble goals, so what about actual villains? Well, you can't get that due to censorship.

Sonia Braga is really good playing her role, I love when actors can act with their eyes, it's very rare today, most actors tend to be bland, like giving statement and memorizing lines and just repeating it, in many case, it's hardly acting, not only her to be fair, all actors in the movie are really good, like Raul Julia is also great actor, and he's the main villain of the movie too, RIP 💔💔💔.

I don't know why IMDB says this movie a dark comedy, this movie is Drama, just because Charlie Sheen in it, doesn't mean it's a comedy!!

Around 45 minute, both Liesl and Strom caught the one who was spying on them, he tried to go and she kicked his ass, then shot him..

Anyway, around 50 minutes Liesl and Strom were trying to steal a vault, yet they didn't know that the cops were waiting for them inside, yet Liesl saw David Ackerman AKA the rookie nervous and exploited that, then shot him three times in his back.

Around one hour and 17 minutes Liesl have fun with Nick Pulovski after they took him as a hostage.

Meanwhile his partner David Ackerman is doing everything he can to find him.

Basically,  Nick Pulovski manged to free himself, David Ackerman manged to find him and help him and around 1 hour 45 minutes, we see our villainous couple trying to escape leading to the final confrontation.

Movie Name : The Neverending Story II: The Next Chapter
Actress Name : Clarissa Burt
Character Name : Xayide
Year : 1990

In 1990 movie The Neverending Story II: The Next Chapter. Actress Clarissa Burt plays as villainess Xayide. Never watched this movie before, but the 90s music tracks is so cool and familiar. Damn, this is The Flash's father, this is the first time I see John Wesley Shipp this young, it's so cool.

The little kid, Bastian, act better than 90% of modern actors.. god no, RIP, Jonathan Brandis 😢😢😢.

I love Xayide so much, I want her to win.

This movie would be great if it was made today, as long as the people who make it aren't absolutely brainless, the idea in itself is really amazing and so relatable in our modern day, Bastian the kid who have a hard time, find a book, an empty book and using it to travel to the world of Fantasia, where he can escape the harsh reality, where he have superpower to make everything, he's basically a writer, who use writing for escapism, something Hollywood really hate, which probably causing a mental crisis in USA, denying people from entering the world of fantasy, denying them escapism by turning everything as depressing and as boring as real life is, Michael Ende the writer probably used writing as his way of escapism, his parents suffered oppression in Germany as their art was considered "degenerate", today we see similar persecution of artists, and censorship to make art perfect and controlled. Hollywood always lecture us that the only thing art is good for is giving men hard time, and make movies as depressing and hateful and as restrictive as possible, and if you made art for the sole purpose of escapism, you must be a horrible person, so, what the Giants of Hollywood were doing for years is replacing the land of Phantasia with the destructive apathetic Nothingness.

Anyway, let's go back to the movie, around 40 minute mark, the movie introduce us to Rockbiter, and show us how Nothingness turned the mountains into a soulless depressing place, and ruined Fantasia.

Bastian with the help of Atreyu fought the giants and when they defeated them they broke and when they look into their remains he found that the giants empty, hollow and empty, which is expected, for these giants to ruin the world of Fantasia and replace it with nothingness, they have to be hollow and empty.

Damn, this movie, it's like I can speak to the writer, I'm like "I know, right", how he oppose the idea of replacing the chaos of fantasy with order, ruining rich stories with emptiness, his opposition to censorship, and how the giants coming from a castle that looks like a hand, I'm like, exactly!!

Don't get me wrong, I love the villainess, and she's my favorite character, I would still root for her, but I totally get what the movie trying to say.

This movie is supposed to be for children, yet TBH, it's very dark, like when it comes to the actor who played the protagonist, and to the character itself, the idea of censorship of fantasy, and the war against escapism that Hollywood started years ago making everything depressing and empty, and ruining the childhood of millions for control and "ORDER" is also very relevant today.

This is how I see the movie, you have the writer, Bastian who love fantasy and want for the stories to continue and hate censorship represent fertile imagination and innocence, and the engineer Barney who see things in a very materialistic way and doesn't understand art, he represents "responsibility" as he described it himself in the movie "What I see is what I see when I see it." and have the giants who don't read books, and censor art and turn fantasy into a something depressing and ruin escapism, and you have our gorgeous Xayide which is like being a big company administration like Disney that tries to control everything, the writer find her so attractive as a writer find a big company like Disney attractive, but as he propose his script, he finds his work being torn apart by the talentless empty giants and their company that ruin fantasy and make life so depressing and intolerable.

Despite all of that, and how the movie is so relatable to me, I won't lie, I'm in love with Xayide and she's my favorite character in the movie ❤️❤️❤️.

Favorite Quotes

"Did you see Giants?

Where do they come from?

Atreyu: People talk about a castle that looks like a hand. Some say that's where the giants come from.

Bastian: So, that's where we should be heading.

Atreyu: There are burning arrows of light all around it."

"Barney: Look, I'm engineer. What I see is what I see when I see it."

"Rockbiter: If humans forget about us, nobody will think of fun things."
